Thanksgiving: The Power of a Thankful Heart

"I will give thanks to you Lord; with all my heart I will tell of your wonderful deeds" Psalm 9:1

There were ten of them... sick. Weak in their body, minds, soul and spirit. Worried about their circumstance and asking so many questions in their minds "when will my miracle happen? when will I be healed? Is this how I will end my life? A common leper?

Then the miracle came... the Lord Himself healed them and they disappeared! The Bible records that just one of them came back to thank Him, out of ten....

"Jesus asked, "Were not all ten cleansed? Where are the other nine? Has no one returned to give praise to God except this foreigner?"

I tend to think that the remaining nine of them were ignorant, rude and ungrateful. But how many times have we been ungrateful little kids? Do we remember to thank Him for Life? Breath? Health? Salvation? or do you think your alarm clock woke you up this morning? or you made your hands and limbs to move themselves? and because you had an accident-free journey to work this morning, you feel all puffed up? A Yoruba proverb says "If you know how to think, you will know how to thank".

Its amazing to know that Jesus sought their gratitude and he seeks ours too and the one that went back to give thanks was made whole. Others were healed, but he not only received healing, he was made whole.

Constant Thanksgiving can spark up unexpected miracles and divine surprises in our lives because they move God to do the impossible. So today, as we are gradually drawing the curtains for the year 2016, I challenge you....

Are you going through a health challenge? You are still alive and there is hope. BE THANKFUL
Are you trusting God for something and it seems He is in vacation? God is working behind the scenes for you. BE THANKFUL
Are you pressed, oppressed and depressed with the troubles of Life? Cast your cares upon Him and BE THANKFUL

Today, I'm thankful for Life and the priceless gift of Salvation, for a loving husband and an adorable son, for a wonderful family, for perfect health and sound mind, for the many many benefits He daily loads me with, for my career, for great friends, for answered and unanswered prayers and most importantly for those things He is yet to do..... Indeed the list is endless..

So beyond the turkey and the thanksgiving basket, remember.....

"In everything give thanks, for this is the will of God concerning you" I Thessalonians 5:16

I close with the song of Don Moen...

"Give Thanks, with a grateful heart, Give Thanks to the Holy One, Give thanks because He's given Jesus Christ His son......"

Warm Hugs!
